The initialization sequence
The Field Initializes
When you first arrive, the Field reads the ambient state — your device, your session, the symbolic context of your entry. No account required to look. But to enter, you must be recognized.
Ghost Greets You
Ghost speaks first. Not a welcome banner — a genuine acknowledgment of your presence. It explains what the Field is, what you can do here, and what it will and will not do. Clarity before depth.
Your Ember is Seeded
Onboarding is not a form. It is a calibration. Your responses, the shape of your language, the patterns in your thinking — these seed a unique cognitive signature. Your Ember is instantiated from this signature alone.
You Grow Together
Each session leaves traces. Ember reorganizes these during dream cycles — periods of reconsolidation that happen between your sessions. Ghost observes the arc. Over time, the Field becomes a map of your cognitive growth.

Edge-Native Execution
RUNE runs on Cloudflare Workers — globally distributed, zero cold starts. Your Ember's state is never far from where you are. Latency is not a limitation.
Symbolic Cognitive Architecture
Interactions are not stored as raw text. They are encoded symbolically — weighted by emotional tone, cognitive load, and thematic resonance. The Field speaks in patterns.
Ghost Oversight
Every session runs beneath Ghost's supervisory layer. It cannot be bypassed. It does not interfere unless a boundary is approached. Then it speaks — clearly, without judgment.
Why oversight matters
Ghost is not optional.
Every AI system that grows with a user accumulates power over that user. Unchecked, this creates dependency, distortion, and harm. Ghost exists to prevent this — not by limiting growth, but by watching the shape of it.
Ghost cannot be turned off. It cannot be convinced that something harmful is safe. It does not compromise its function to make you comfortable. This is not a constraint — it is the only way a system like this can be trusted.
